NINE LOCAL EDUCATORS AWARDED FMFCU FOUNDATION TEACHER MINI GRANTS

Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union Foundation announces the award of nine mini-grants totaling over $4,000. The grant application was open to kindergarten through twelfth grade teachers to help fund innovative student-oriented educational experiences that might not otherwise be funded. The 2021-2022 Teacher Mini Grants are made possible by a grant from the Minford Foundation.

Grantee Dan Meli of Interboro High School plans to expand the financial and budgeting knowledge of his students by purchasing educational board games that allows the students to utilize the highest form of cognitive understanding in a crucial ability to manage and grow one’s finances. Students at North Star Elementary will learn more about gravity and other STEM related topics. Teacher Kristin Becker plans to use the funds to purchase materials to conduct hands-on, small group learning experiences.

  • Jessica Vazquez, Interboro High School, Interboro School District
