Impressive Home Team Scores This Week in Delco Hi-Q

Chadds Ford, PA – Round 2 of Delco Hi-Q kicked off the new year, with all teams returning after their first appearance in December. Scores from this second contest will be added to Round 1 totals, raising the stakes as the competition begins to intensify.

 

Penn Wood High School and Chester STEM Academy visited Penncrest High School for the first contest of Round 2 and the new year. Penncrest had a standout performance, posting the highest score of the season at its home match. The home team missed only three of its own questions and collected an impressive 18 bonus points. Behind them, Penn Wood and Chester STEM battled closely for second place, trading positions throughout the match before Penn Wood ultimately secured second by a single question. The contest was made even more special by the presence of State Representative Lisa Borowski and Delaware County Council Chair Dr. Monica Taylor, who cheered on the teams and spoke with students following the competition. Final Scores – Penncrest: 66; Penn Wood: 12; Chester STEM: 8.

 

The following day, Sun Valley High School hosted Upper Darby and Cardinal O’Hara High Schools for a lively contest with a welcoming crowd and notable performances. Upper Darby jumped out to an early lead with a stellar first half and maintained its momentum to secure the win. Both Upper Darby High and Sun Valley picked up four bonus points during the match. O’Hara and Sun Valley showed resilience, each of whom more than doubled their first-half scores in the second half. Despite the late surges, Upper Darby’s early advantage proved decisive. Final Scores – Sun Valley: 34; O’Hara: 20; Upper Darby: 47.

 

Radnor High School continued the trend of dominant home-team performances while hosting Bonner & Prendie and Archbishop Carroll. The host team missed just one of its own questions and built a commanding lead by halftime. All teams found success in American History. Bonner & Prendie and Carroll were separated by just one point at the half, setting up a tight race for second place that Archbishop Carroll ultimately claimed, while Radnor pulled away to secure a convincing victory. Final Scores – Radnor: 66; Bonner and Prendie: 14; Archbishop Carroll: 19.
