FMFCU Foundation is pleased to announce its 2026 scholarship recipients. This year, six students were selected to receive scholarships through three distinguished programs: the John D. Unangst Memorial Scholarship, the Bridge to Success Scholarship, and the Delco Hi?Q Scholarship. Each scholarship program honors exceptional high school seniors for their academic achievement, leadership, and commitment to community involvement.
John D. Unangst Memorial Scholarship
Created in 2001, the John D. Unangst Memorial Scholarship commemorates the legacy of Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union’s first President and CEO, whose leadership and dedication to service continue to guide the organization. The Foundation awards four one?time scholarships of $4,000 each through a competitive, essay?based application process. The 2026 recipients are:
- William Reitmeyer, Strath Haven High School
- Darsh Parikh, Bensalem High School
- Jizelle Campos, Penncrest High School
- Michaell Wilmer, Bishop Shanahan High School
Bridge to Success Scholarship
Established in 2023, the Bridge to Success Scholarship supports a graduating senior from the Chester Upland School District by providing a $4,000 award to help further their education. This scholarship reflects the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to expanding access to educational opportunities in underserved communities. This year’s recipient is:
- Muhammad Zarak Khan, Chester STEM Academy at Showalter
Delco Hi-Q Scholarship Recipient
Introduced in 2024, the Delco Hi?Q Scholarship recognizes one outstanding senior who participates in the nation’s oldest continuous academic quiz competition. The $4,000 scholarship is awarded to a student who exemplifies academic excellence and a genuine enthusiasm for learning. The 2026 recipient is:
- Melody Chen, Penncrest High School
“We are honored to recognize these remarkable students and the dedication they have shown to both their education and their communities,” said Rick Durante, Executive Director of FMFCU Foundation. “Their hard work and determination are inspiring, and we are proud to support them as they take this next step in their educational journeys.”
The scholarship recipients will be formally recognized during the FMFCU Foundation Celebration on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at The Drexelbrook in Drexel Hill. The event welcomes more than 400 attendees, including educators, community leaders, students, and supporters, to celebrate individuals making a meaningful impact throughout the region. In addition to the scholarship awardees, the evening will honor twenty educators with the Delaware Valley Excellence in Teaching Award and recognize participants and winners from the 78th season of Delco Hi?Q. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
