A Place for Grief, Hope, and Healing: Peter’s Place Named FMFCU Foundation Community Champion

In moments of loss, families often search for something simple but powerful: a place where they are understood, supported, and not alone. For more than two decades, Peter’s Place of Radnor, PA has been that place for grieving children and families across our region.

FMFCU Foundation is proud to name Peter’s Place its Community Champion, recognizing the organization’s compassionate mission and lasting impact. In honor of this designation, the Foundation will award Peter’s Place a $5,000 donation and celebrate the organization at the FMFCU Foundation Celebration on April 16, 2026.

Where the Story Began

Peter’s Place was founded in 2001 in memory of Peter Morsbach, who died suddenly at the age of ten. In the wake of Peter’s death, his family and friends faced not only profound grief, but also a difficult realization: there were very few affordable support options for families grieving together, especially children.

Rather than accept that reality, they took action.

Friends of the Morsbach family came together to create Peter’s Place, establishing the first family grief support agency of its kind in the area. What began as a response to one family’s loss became a lifeline for thousands of others.

A Model Built on Care and Community

Originally inspired by a nationally recognized program, Peter’s Place grew by listening—listening to families, to professionals, and to the evolving needs of the community. By blending professional expertise, best?practices research, and deep local awareness, the organization developed a unique, community?based grieving center that is not replicated anywhere else.

Today, Peter’s Place provides a safe, welcoming environment where grief is honored, emotions are validated, and healing happens at each person’s own pace. Families come not to be “fixed,” but to be supported, together.

Why Community Champion Matters

“Peter’s Place truly embodies what it means to be a Community Champion,” said Rick Durante, Executive Director of the FMFCU Foundation. “Their work ensures families are not alone during some of life’s most difficult moments, and their impact on our community is both meaningful and lasting.”

FMFCU Foundation’s Community Champion recognition highlights nonprofit partners whose work aligns with the Foundation’s focus on community impact, education, healthcare, and social vulnerability. Peter’s Place stands at the intersection of all four—meeting families where they are and walking with them through grief with dignity and compassion.

Celebrating Impact Together

Peter’s Place will be formally recognized at the FMFCU Foundation Celebration on April 16, 2026, an evening dedicated to honoring the organizations and individuals strengthening our communities every day.
