Delco Hi-Q Championship Pits first place Garnet Valley against last year’s winner Penncrest and newcomers Sun Valley.
The Delco Hi-Q 68th Season Championship round is Tuesday, March 8 at 9:15 a.m. at Garnet Valley High School, Glen Mills, PA.
Garnet Valley finished the 2015-2016 season in first place, earning home team advantage in the title round. They will host last year’s champions Penncrest High School and Sun Valley High School, which is making its first championship appearance.
At stake is the Donna Zerby trophy, cash prizes donated by sponsoring organization Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union, and the satisfaction that comes from being rewarded for months of deliberate practice and focused studying.
Twenty teams participated in the 68th season and all are deserving of recognition for their efforts. That recognition will come April 28, 2016 at the annual Partners in Education Celebration, which also honors the All-Delco Hi-Q Team, the Delco Hi-Q Hall of Honor recipient, Delaware County Excellence in Teaching Awardees, the region’s Financial Literacy Advocate, ten John D. Unangst Scholarship winners, and more.
Delco Hi-Q is a partnership between Delaware County Intermediate Unit (DCIU) and Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union Foundation (FMFCU). Veteran actor Tom McCarthy is Quizmaster, FMFCU Vice President Rick Durante serves as Director, FMFCU Community Education Manager Karen Hassett is Hi-Q Coordinator, and DCIU’s Dave Bramble is the production engineer.
In addition to support from participating schools, Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union and the Wilbur C. and Betty Lea Henderson Foundation are the primary corporate sponsors. Additional support comes from longtime sponsor Kimberly-Clark Corporation and the Delaware County Daily Times.
