Chadds Ford, PA– In late 2020, FMFCU Foundation launched a Food Insecurity Fund to help food banks improve access to food for our neighbors. Credit Union members, employees and the public were encouraged to donate to the fund. As a thank you gift for every $10 donation to the fund, donors received a youth sized Berenstain BearsĀ® Financial Literacy Program Cub Account face mask from Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union.
Within just a few months, this popular campaign raised $12,000 for food banks in the area. Many of these organizations have been severely impacted by the pandemic as they have faced increased demand for support.
The following organizations are beneficiaries of the initial donation:
- Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry, Prospect Park
- Bernardine Center, Chester
- Vincent DePaul- BVM Food Cupboard, Darby and Holy Cross Food Pantry, Springfield
- Philabundance, Philadelphia
- Chester County Food Bank, Exton
“We would like to thank and recognize food bank staff and volunteers for their work in fighting food insecurity,” said Rick Durante, Executive Director FMFCU Foundation. “We also thank Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union members for their generous support for the fund.” This funding will allow food banks to continue to purchase food and other necessities.
FMFCU Foundation supports and recognizes education and charitable initiatives in communities served by Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union. Programs include the Excellence in Teaching Awards, scholarships, education grants, food insecurity, Delco Hi-Q Academic Competition, and directly funds a number of other educational initiatives and awards.
