Chadds Ford, PA (August, 2021) – As the 2021-2022 begins, purchasing supplies essential for learning is a financial hurdle for many families. This year FMFCU Foundation set out to help students start the school year right by running a Back to School Drive. In a campaign that ran just over 3 weeks, FMFCU employees and members donated almost 3,000 school supply items through donation boxes in each of the FMFCU Branches. All of the items were donated to CityTeam Chester on August 18th.
“We thank our members and employees for their collective effort o to help CityTeam Chester distribute thousands of schoolbags to those in need.” Says Michael Magnavita, FMFCU President and CEO.
CityTeam’s Backpacks for Success program benefits low income children. The program provides a backpack and essential school supplies to kids who might otherwise go without. The goal is provide 2,200 children with backpacks before school starts.
The Back to School Supply Drive is just one of the many ways FMFCU encourages members and employees to help those in our community. This year, FMFCU Foundation has also focused efforts on food insecurity, scholarships, community grants and volunteerism.
