The holiday season is often associated with family meals, shared desserts, and delicious treats that bring people together. But for those struggling with food insecurity, the holidays can be a reminder of what they may not be able to afford. While the essentials like meals and groceries are always top priority, sometimes what is missing is that little something extra— a holiday dessert that brings a smile to the table.
FMFCU Foundation reached out to the Bernardine Center in Chester to fill this gap, offering families not only the nourishment they need, but also a little sweetness that makes this time of year even more special. Ahead of the holiday week, FMFCU Foundation donated 50 pies to the Bernardine Center in hopes to bring joy to their clients.
This donation of pies is a meaningful way to close out the year for FMFCU Foundation in its ongoing efforts to combat hunger. Throughout the year, FMFCU Foundation has worked to provide support to local food banks, and community initiatives aimed at alleviating food insecurity. In 2024, the foundation donated food, funds and volunteer time, supporting over 20 food banks in the region.
Together, with the support of our generous community, we can make significant strides in ending hunger and ensuring that everyone has access to nutritious meals, no matter the time of year.
