FMFCU Foundation is proud to announce the recipients of its 2025 scholarship awards, recognizing outstanding high school seniors for their academic excellence, community involvement, and dedication to furthering their education. This year, the Foundation awarded three prestigious scholarships: the John D. Unangst Memorial Scholarship, the Bridge to Success Scholarship, and the newly introduced Delco Hi-Q Scholarship.
John D. Unangst Memorial Scholarship Recipients
Established in 2001, the John D. Unangst Memorial Scholarship honors Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union’s first President/CEO and his legacy of leadership and community service. This one-time $4,000 scholarship is awarded to four high school seniors through a highly competitive essay-based application process. The 2025 recipients are:
- Leni Verghese, Monsignor Bonner & Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School
- Victoria D’Ulisse, Bayard Rustin High School
- Matthew Hauser, Technical College High School – Pickering Campus
- Cevyn Wiggins, Commonwealth Charter Academy
Bridge to Success Scholarship Recipient
Established in 2023, the Bridge to Success Scholarship provides a $4,000 scholarship to a graduating senior from the Chester Upland School District, reinforcing FMFCU Foundation’s commitment to fostering educational opportunities for students in underserved communities. This year’s recipient is:
- Brittany Brown, Chester STEM Academy
Delco Hi-Q Scholarship Recipient
New this year, the Delco Hi-Q Scholarship recognizes one outstanding senior participating in the nation’s oldest continuous academic quiz competition. The $4,000 scholarship is awarded to a student who has demonstrated academic excellence and a passion for learning. The inaugural recipient is:
- Ragini Mohan, Penncrest High School
“We are incredibly proud of this year’s scholarship recipients,” said Rick Durante, Executive Director of FMFCU Foundation. “Their dedication to their studies, leadership in their communities, and commitment to their futures inspire us all. We are thrilled to support their educational journeys.”
The scholarship recipients will be formally recognized at the FMFCU Foundation Celebration on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at The Drexelbrook in Drexel Hill. This special event brings together over 400 attendees, including community leaders, educators, students, and supporters, to honor those who make an extraordinary impact in our community. In addition to the scholarship awardees, the celebration will honor twenty outstanding teachers with the Delaware Valley Excellence in Teaching Award and recognize participants and winners from the 77th season of Delco Hi-Q, the nation’s oldest continuous academic quiz competition.
