Radnor and Delaware County Christian School Score Delco Hi-Q Wins

Delco Hi-Q’s 77th season powered into its second round on January 8th, with Radnor hosting Penn Wood and Cardinal O’Hara in an exciting battle of academic wits. The assembly began with opening remarks from Radnor High Principal Dr. Joseph MacNamara, with Superintendent Dr. Ken Batchelor also in attendance. Penn Wood came out strong, correctly answering the first five questions to grab an early lead. But Radnor quickly found their rhythm, delivering five consecutive correct answers of their own and earning six bonus points by capitalizing on their opponents’ missteps. By halftime, the home team had built a commanding nine-point lead, with Penn Wood in second and Cardinal O’Hara trailing in third.

The week wrapped up at the Academy of Notre Dame, where they hosted Delaware County Christian School and Ridley High School at their Villanova campus. The match opened strong, with all three teams earning points in the first category, Current Events. Delaware County Christian quickly pulled ahead, showcasing their skill with back-to-back correct answers and six first-half bonus points.

As the defending champions built a commanding lead, Notre Dame and Ridley turned their focus to the battle for second place. The competition stayed tight, but Ridley managed to hold onto the runner-up spot as the game progressed. In the end, Delaware County Christian demonstrated why they’re the reigning champs.  The second half brought more intensity as Radnor maintained their momentum while Penn Wood and Cardinal O’Hara fought to narrow the gap. Cardinal O’Hara gained ground with a late-game streak of correct answers, showcasing their determination, but Radnor’s consistent performance kept them in control. The home team clinched their victory with a rapid response to the Math toss-up question. Final scores: Radnor, 53; Penn Wood, 25; Cardinal O’Hara, 20.
