The last 9 teams competed in the second round of Delco Hi-Q in competitive contests. Strath Haven put on an outstanding performance, scoring the most points of the season!
On January 22, Haverford High School and Sun Valley High School competed at Archbishop Carroll High School. Haverford came out strong in the first half, answering almost every question correctly and earning valuable bonus points. Carroll and Sun Valley’s scores remained close, but after the intermission, both teams gained momentum. Despite their efforts, neither was able to completely catch up, with Haverford ultimately securing the victory. Final scores – Archbishop Carroll: 25; Haverford: 38; Sun Valley: 31
Chichester High School hosted Academy Park and Strath Haven the next day, January 23. Chichester initially took the lead, but Strath Haven quickly found their rhythm. Strath Haven’s outstanding performance included an impressive 15 bonus points, leading them to the highest score of the season so far – 62 points. Their stellar performance earned them the win in this exciting contest. Final scores – Chichester: 16; Academy Park: 20; Strath Haven: 62.
The final contest of Round 2 took place on January 27 at Upper Darby High School, where the home team faced off against Interboro High School and Chester STEM Academy. Upper Darby had an almost perfect first half, missing only one question, putting them in a strong position. The teams battled fiercely throughout, with Upper Darby holding on to their lead at the finish. Final Scores: Upper Darby: 47; Interboro: 26; Chester STEM: 5.
Each team has competed two times this season and will have one more opportunity to score points. The season’s top-scorer skips the playoffs while the next six teams compete in a semi-final round to determine the remaining finalist teams. Delco Hi-Q Championship will take place on March 12th with the winner taking home the Donna Zerby Trophy.
